The story of Värska Originaal
Since 500,000,000 BCE
On a spring day in 1967, boring work led by geologist Vladimir Tassa began near Õrsava Lake on the southern reaches of Värska Bay, aimed at penetrating an extraordinary underground body of water. The work lasted all summer and finally reached a depth of 470 metres. Geologists estimated that was the depth of a large natural stone basin under Värska Bay, the deepest aquifer of which was formed already 500 million years ago. Over millions of years, the crystal-clear water it concealed was said to have dissolved the perfect proportions of valuable minerals The geologists turned out to be right. A few years later a plant was built at the site of the bore well, where natural mineral water was bottled, becoming known as Värska water. To keep the tradition evergreen, we are again bottle the same crystal-clear, 500-millon-year-old water into quality glass bottles worthy of its distinction under the name Värska Originaal.
